WATER AND CLIMATE DIPLOMACY Integrative Approaches for Adaptive Action in Transboundary River Basins
A new report by adelphi, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, analyses existing water and climate policy instruments and their potential for supporting adaptation in transboundary river bains. Water and Climate Diplomacy: Integrative Approaches for Adaptive Action in Transboundary River Basins argues that adaptation in international river basins can be supported by better integrating climate and water governance instruments. The authors outline various water policy tools that are used in many river basins to support climate change adaptation, but also show that a number of deficiencies still exist. They argue that climate policy instruments can help to overcome existing shortcomings and strengthen adaptive responses.
