Portugal has 80% of water needed for summer
Portugal’s environment minister said on 18 June that the country has 80 percent of the water it needs to get through summer without any major shortages.
Minister Matos Fernandes conceded that there may be some small clusters where the population increases in summer where water shortages may occur, but the long-term solution is to save.
The most critical reservoir at present is Monte da Rocha, in the municipality of Ourique, which for the past four months has been at just 11 percent of its maximum capacity.
