Morocco: Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development and Forestry
Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, who was appointed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on April 5, 2017, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fishing, Rural Development and Forestry, was born in 1961 in Tafraout. Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries since 2007, Mr. Akhannouch holds a degree in marketing from the University of Sherbrooke-Canada. He is president of the AKWA group, which includes some fifty companies. He also served as president of the regional council of Souss-Massa-Draa from 2003 to 2007.
Mr. Akhannouch is also a member of the office of the General Confederation of Moroccan Companies (CGEM).
He was also a member of the Reflection Group with the late SM Hassan II until
1999, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection and member of the
Mohammed VI Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Prisoners.
On October 29, 2016, Mr. Akhannouch was elected by a majority vote of the
National Rally of Independents (RNI) party.
