OpIRS project: Last advances and progresses
OPIRIS consortium has achieved so far the following activities without considerable problems: - Identify and characterize OPIRIS trial plots in Estonia, Greece, Portugal, Spain and UK; - Design, purchase, install, setup and configure OPIRIS sensors’ and telecom Devices; - Design, setup and configure OPIRIS server and algorithms; Design, setup and configure OPIRIS graphic user interface; Realize the first DEMO period for testing, evaluation and tune-up purposes; Realize our periodic meeting; Realize some dissemination activities; and Accomplish OPIRIS agenda and deliver all scheduled deliverables on time.
Now a day, almost all OPIRIS services (Database, Consultancy, Monitoring and Control) are ready and has been made available for public access starting this same evening (2015 May 08). By this announcement OPIRIS consortium can proudly disseminate the link to the new page www.opiris4r.com and the following services: OPIRIS_Visitor for fruit trees and hydroponic crops is available for free access (any public user has to only to register introducing his name and email); OPIRIS_Consultant is also ready to receive any visitor’s message willing to know more about OPIRIS and assess the potential of adopting some OPIRIS solutions their adequacy for his personal case study; OPIRIS_Scheduler It is available ON-LINE for our actual partners working on hydroponic crops in Greece and ready OFF-LINE for OpIRIS partners working on fruit-trees in Portugal, Estonia and Spain.
Work will continue on this part to make the scheduler for fruit trees available ON-LINE soon. Any new user interested to step forward, install some sensors and devices when needed and pay some monthly fees. OPIRIS_Control has reached a very advanced stage for Hydroponic crop and will be ready online very soon. For Fruit trees, it is also progressing very fast. At the moment it is prepared to work under the direct supervision of its administrator.
In the coming months work will continue to integrate into the system and make it available online too.

OPIRIS is a European project funded by the 7th Framework Programme. OPIRIS consortium is formed by 13 partners from 7 EU countries. The overall objective is to build a knowledge-based system for online precise irrigation scheduling (OpIRIS) using advanced results from previous FP projects on water and fertilizers productivity in fruit trees orchards and hydroponic productions in greenhouses.
