Capacity Development on Safe Use of Wastewater in Agriculture
As global demand for water and nutrients grows wastewater is increasingly being viewed as a resource for agricultural production. WHO recently completed a series of 5 regional workshops on Safe Use of Wastewater in Agriculture with partners FAO, UNEP, UNWDPC, UNU-INWEH, IMWI and ICID. The workshops brought together multi-disciplinary groups to examine the opportunities and risks of wastewater use for the perspectives of health, agricultural productivity, environment, institutional and economic. The workshops covered 72 countries in 5 regions.
