Thirsting for Justice Campaign Teach-in for Palestinian water rights World Water Day – 22 March 2013

On World Water Day show your support for the Palestinian struggle for water justice, organize a teach-in to learn the facts about the context and take action in support of this basic human right

The Thirsting for Justice Campaign calls on supporters worldwide to observe World Water Day 2013 (22 March) by organizing community teach-ins[1] to gain an accurate and factual portrayal of the challenges Palestinians under Israeli occupation face in their daily lives when accessing clean water and to promote discussion on actions in support of Palestinian water rights.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Palestinians and internationals in the West Bank will be taking part in a “walk for water justice” in the Jordan Valley to mark World Water Day, an initiative of the Thirsting for Justice Campaign and the Jenin Freedom Theater.

To join the teach-in action:

1. Register intent by writing to us on info@thirstingforjustice.org. You will receive a resource pack, which contains all the information you need to organize this action.

1. Send us the details for your teach-in so we can advertise it on our website and social media. You can organize the teach-in at any time during the month of March.

1. 4.      Send us your report-back with details of what was agreed among participants during the meeting so others can be inspired by your work. See the action sheet we prepared in the resource pack with suggestions on what you could do to reach decision-makers and get them to act.

[1] Teach-ins are educational forums where people come together to focus on a single topic and build a common understanding about an issue. Teach-ins are meant to be practical, participatory and oriented towards action. Their main goal is to educate people and work towards change.

Lors de la Journée Mondiale de l'Eau, montrez votre soutien à la lutte palestinienne pour la justice de l'eau, en organisant un «teach-in» pour apprendre les faits sur le contexte de l´eau en Palestine et prendre des mesures à l'appui de ce droit humain fondamental.

La campagne Soif de Justice invite les supporters du monde entier à organiser un «teach-in» dans leurs communautés pour célébrer la Journée Mondiale de l'Eau 2013 (le 22 Mars) et afin de promouvoir une représentation précise et factuelle des défis auxquels les Palestiniens sous occupation font face dans leur vie quotidienne par rapport à l'accès à l'eau potable, et afin de discuter des différentes actions à prendre pour supporter le droit palestinien à l´eau.

En Cisjordanie, des centaines de Palestiniens et internationaux prendront part à une "marche pour la justice de l'eau" le 22 mars dans la Vallée du Jourdain pour marquer la Journée Mondiale de l'Eau, une initiative de la campagne Soif de Justice et du Théâtre de la Liberté de Jénine.

Pour organiser un «teach-in» :

1. Inscrivez-vous en nous écrivant à info@thirstingforjustice.org. Nous vous enverrons une trousse de ressources, qui contient toutes les informations dont vous aurez besoin pour organiser cette action.

2. Discutez vos idées avec nous. Nous nous efforcerons de répondre à vos questions et vous accompagner dans l'organisation du «teach-in».

3. Envoyez-nous les détails de votre «teach-in» afin que nous puissions vous aider à le promouvoir sur notre site web et nos réseaux sociaux. Vous pouvez organiser le «teach-in» le jour qui vous convient pendant le mois de mars.

4. Apres le «teach-in», envoyez-nous les conclusions de votre session et ce qui a été convenu entre les participants pour appuyer le droit à l´eau palestinien, afin de pouvoir partager avec les autres organisateurs et les inspirer. Vous pouvez vous référer à la fiche d'action dans la trousse de ressources, qui contient des suggestions sur ce que vous pourriez faire pour atteindre vos représentants et les pousser à l´action.
