Groundwater Security in Yemen: The Critical Role of Local Communities
MetaMeta shares with you a series of videos we've co-produced Levert Communications & Culture, and Water and Environment Centre, Yemen. The series is an attempt to document Yemen's rich heritage of managing scarce water in arid environments, through institutions formed and run by the end-users themselves.
Groundwater depletion in the country has been a big concern of late. The series identifies five cases of successful, community-run groundwater management systems that promise a way to food/ water security. It also includes an exclusive interview with Abdulrahman F. Al-Eryani, the former Yemeni Minister of Water and Environment.
The videos are available in both English and Arabic. They can be watched on this page of TheWaterChannel.
