Open call for proposals: Preparatory Action on development of prevention activities to halt desertification in Europe

The general objective of this preparatory action is to continue the identification and development of prevention activities to halt desertification in Europe started in 2009.

The Commission invites public or private bodies, actors and institutions, non-governmental organisations, universities and/or research institutes in the EU (who may associate with bodies and organisations of candidate countries, potential candidates and European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) countries) to submit proposals for pilot initiatives.

The pilot initiatives should supplement the ongoing projects on tackling water scarcity, droughts and desertification by complementing EU water resource balances with local data, as well as identifying management, technological and economic measures allowing the setting up of optimal water management in the pilot river basins.

Finance available: EUR 700.000

Deadline for applications: 30 September 2011, 17:00 Brussels' Time at the latest
