News The Autumn 2008 SMAP Bulletin (No. 23 Autumn 2008) is now available for download in English, French and Arabic

The SMAP Bulletin is the electronic publication from the SMAP III Technical Assistance project (SMAP III TA) to keep you up to date on the latest developments in the SMAP Programme.

IN THIS ISSUE:
• Raey calls for regional models in MENA to fix climate change predictions
• EC Grants also available for Researchers in the Region under FP7
• The “Union for the Mediterranean” is born
• SMAP III supports ICZM planning of “Green Tunisia”
• Bye Bye Agrium –Civil Society finds its voice
• Hot News about Cool Beaches

You'll find an interview with Dr Mohamed El-Raey, a prominent authority on environmental matters, especially climate change. Also in Egypt, there are signs that Civil Society is being heard on environmental issues, with the Agrium story. Our project focus goes to Tunisia, where the SMAP III ICZM project is promoting sound coastal management both on the pristine coast of Kroumerie & Mogods and in the industrialized area of Grand Sfax. Euro-Med news includes funding opportunities for environment under the EC's research programme FP7, a "beach-finder" resource from the European Environmental Agency and the latest on the Mediterranean Union.

We're happy to include with our Bulletin an article entitled "Olive Mill Waste: a Source of Concern for the Environment" which highlights the very successful SMAP II project in Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. You can download the story here: http://www.smap.eu/DOC/Bulletins/SyriaSMAP_en.pdf
