MedStat II - Euro-Mediterranean Statistic 2007 published: Mediterranean and EU countries coming closer
The Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPCs) are coming closer to the EU
Member States, with their higher literacy levels, growing trade links and
increasing tourism, according to the second annual Euro-Med statistical data
bulletin, published by the MEDSTAT II EU-funded Programme.
MedStat II, the statistical cooperation programme between the EU and its
Southern partners, released latest figures showing high growth rates in most
Southern Mediterranean countries.
Annual growth rates in most of the Mediterranean partner countries exceeded
5%, with Morocco reaching 8%. The Southern Mediterranean countries are
approaching EU levels in terms of literacy. Furthermore trade is increasing,
so is tourism.
