Italy: Three-year plan to relaunch the economy of the lake
Environmental officials in Italy's Biella Province are about to launch a three-year plan to revitalize Lake Viverone, announced provincial councilmember Davide Bazzini. The two main sources of pollution are the local sewer system and farm runoff. The latter will be dealt with by helping farmers reduce their use of fertilizers. Inspired by the European Landscape Convention, the province also wants to establish a pilot area in the lacustrine basin to experiment with landscaping techniques.
