WEBINAR - "SHARING KNOWLEDGE ON WATER IN MOROCCO FOR A BETTER MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES"

SEMIDE is organising a webinar session on knowledge sharing in Morocco hosted by Tour du valat and WWF North Africa on 04 May 2023.  The adage "You can only manage well what you know well" is the basis of the Mediterranean Water Knowledge Platform initiative carried by SEMIDE and  promoted by the Union for the Mediterranean, of which Morocco is a pilot country. The Water Information System is a major pillar to ensure an inclusive and integrated governance of the sector. Starting from a Mediterranean perspective, the webinar will focus on Morocco by recalling the challenges, the legal framework, the actors and their role, the typology and sources of data, the tools and developments underway, the obstacles and barriers encountered. In particular, the data needs for characterizing the state of aquatic ecosystems, the pressures exerted (pollution and withdrawals) as well as the definition of responses in the form of measures/action plans such as those established in the basin management plans or local water management plans will be addressed. After a presentation phase, the debate will be opened with the participants to consider the needs and the potential contributions with a multi-stakeholder approach and to bring an enlightenment of the field actors.
