Refreshing H2O Policy: An EU socio-economic workshop

The Refreshing H2O Policy workshop will provide a space for policy makers, practitioners and environmental socio-economists to come together and identify the disruptive breakthroughs in social and economic thinking required to support European Blue policy transition in facing present and future challenges, including climate change.

Refreshing H2O Policy is particularly interested by involving young professionals that can bring fresh ideas and perspectives on future challenges, methods, tools and approaches. Thanks to the support of the European Junior Water Programme (EJWP), the workshop will be part of a Boot Camp of EJWP on the role of social and economic approaches in water management.

The Boot Camp is developed with the EJWP three pillar approach in connecting knowledge, network and professional development and will integrate the workshop into an integrated approach with deepened knowledge sharing, field trip and training opportunities in parallel with the workshop activities. The Boot Camp will be from Monday morning 30 Jan – Thursday 2 February. The workshop will build on experiences in applying social and economic thinking, methods and tools to support decision making at different scales (local, metropolitan area, catchment, river basin and sea basin) including in the context of the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive.

Refreshing H2O Policy will financially support (travel and accommodation costs, free participation) a small group of selected young professionals that bring novel (social and economic) approaches and experiences of particular relevance to blue transition.
