EWP Annual Event 2017: Does Water Stewardship Support the Achievement of Public Policy Goals?
Water is critical for Europe’s economy, environment, and the well-being of its citizens. But our water resources are under pressure with water scarcity, pollution, and the effects of more frequent and intense floods and droughts already having significant impacts. Governments, businesses, cities and citizens all recognize the urgent need to work together to ensure the sustainability of this vital resource. Water stewardship and water stewardship standards such as European Water Stewardship (EWS) Standard has gained widespread recognition as a framework for water users to understand their own water risks and opportunities, and to work collaboratively with the others for sustainable water management within the river basin context.
EWP, with support from strategic partners,
is initiating a conference “Does Water Stewardship Support Achievement of Public Policy Goals on Sustainable Water Management and Agriculture?”
October 4th, 2017 in Brussels
The conference aims to highlight the ongoing initiatives on water stewardship across the EU and explore how corporate water stewardship can be connected with actions by EU governments to achieve policy goals of sustainable water management and agriculture, both enshrined in Sustainable Development Goals that EU has committed to achieve by 2030.
