2nd General Meeting of demEAUmed project
demEAUmed is a Water and Innovation project co-funded by the European Commission. It aims at closing the water cycle in Mediterranean touristic resorts, thus reducing the water foot print of the tourism sector. The partners coming from 7 EU countries will joint for their bi-annual coordination meeting in Nice in January 2015.
After one year of testing and preparation, 8 innovative technologies for waste water treatment are now ready for implementation and testing in large hotel, near Barcelona. An advance monitoring and control system will also be implemented to allow the partners providing technologies to follow their systems remotely.
Results of testing will be integrated in a decision support system in order to select and configure the most appropriate solutions in other resorts depending on their water usages (consumption for green areas, swimming pools, showers, toilets, kitchen, and laundry).
The 2nd General Meeting of demEAUmed project will take place in Nice (France)

Demonstrating integrated innovative technologies for an optimal and safe closed water cycle in Mediterranean tourist facilities (demEAUmed)
dEAUmed is a European project co-funded by the European Union under the 7th Framework Program, and started officially on January 1st, 2014 for over 42 months(2014-2017). Seven countries are establishing this project; Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Italy, France and Belgium.
Objective:
The aim of demEAUmed project is the involvement of industry representatives, stakeholders, policy-makers and diverse technical and scientific experts in demonstrating and promoting innovative technologies, for an optimal and safe closed water cycle in Euro-Mediterranean tourist facilities, leading to their eventual market uptake.
Reduction of fresh water consumption in hotel installations, green and recreational areas, etc. will be achieved by using alternative water sources, such as treated groundwater, treated rainwater or the reuse of treated grey waters and/or wastewaters within the resort.
