STREAM Policy Seminar, March 13, WWF Marseille
STREAM Policy Seminar, 13th March, WWF Marseille: “Achieving solutions for water scarcity and drought – using policies to promote concrete implementation of innovative water technologies”
On Tuesday, 13th March from 12.00 to 15.00, as a side event of the 6th World Water Forum in Marseille-France, STREAM Project is organising its 2nd Policy Seminar “Achieving solutions for water scarcity and drought” at the Hall 3.
Water scarcity and drought are crucial challenges all around the world. In Europe, mainly the Southern and Eastern European regions are affected and climate change will only further exacerbate the severity and effects of water scarcity and droughts. European research shows that innovative technologies can be a great asset in addressing these challenges, reducing water consumption by up to 40%. A lot of these technologies do exist, but they face strong challenges to actually reach the market.
These challenges partly relate to current policies on water and therefore policy makers can play a large role in ensuring innovative water technologies will quicker reach the market and their full potential to address the water challenges is used. Therefore, the STREAM Policy Seminar will address the question how to use policy frameworks to promote the implementation of innovative technologies to reduce water consumption and thereby address the challenges of water scarcity and droughts.
The Seminar will include representatives from European and national politics, innovators, water-users and relevant European projects. The programme will give ample opportunity for interactive discussions with around 50% of the time reserved for panel-debates and discussions with the audience.
