4-day intensive course on: “Seawater and Brackish Water Desalination by RO Technology – Engineering Practices”
This course will provide the participants with required expertise and knowledge to operate the RO desalination plants and give them the guidelines for good engineering practices. Project engineering is the most important part of any project. It considers the process, process and component design, and the choice of all process components. This step must be carefully carried out since it will be the basis for building, commissioning and plant performance. The course will be conducted in French by the consultants Mr. Henri Lugan and Mr. François Matthieu Winandy, France, with the participation of Mr. Kamel Fethi and Mr. Mohamed Zaara from Tunisia. Forty participants from different sectors and institutions will be selected for this course. Desalination fundamentals will be also covered in this course to help newcomers to the desalination field. The course covers:
• Basic theory and practice of membrane processes used in Sea/Brackish water desalination
• RO system configuration
• Pretreatment (conventional and low pressure membranes)
• Product water post-treatment and quality control
• Membrane fouling and scaling (including bio-fouling)
• Cleaning and membrane autopsy
• Computer-aided design of sea/brackish water RO systems
• Recent advances in membrane desalination
• Case studies of desalination plants in Tunisia
The course fees with course material, coffee and lunches during breaks will be free of charge.
