Project Optimising marginal resources in intensive horticultural production in Southern Turkey and Northern Egypt

- The project aimed at developing suitable systems for horticulture production on marginal land in the context of problems of water availability and quality. To this end it assessed the water requirements of the crops, tested greenhouse/plastic shelter climate control to meet cost efficiency criteria and involved local farmers and local SMEs in the intensification of production.
- Irrigation scheduling, selection of suitable plant varieties and modifications to improve post-harvest stability, transport and marketing were core activities.
