Southern Area Water & Sanitation Improvement Project
- The Southern Area Water and Sanitation Improvement Project aims to:
1) improve the sufficiency of water and wastewater services in the Southern Area and the efficiency of water and wastewater services supply to customers in terms of quality, quantity and management by building on existing authorities; and
2) prepare for and implement an appropriate institutional framework for water and wastewater service provision including the implementation of a performance-based management contract and strengthening regulatory and institutional capacity in the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA).

Objectives | - There are four project components: 1) Management contract will improve the quality and quantity of water supplied and the management of the water and wastewater systems in Bethlehem and Hebron Governorates. 2) Operating Investment Fund will provide the Operator and PWA with immediate funds for the purchase of materials, supplies, and equipment that is necessary to rehabilitate the infrastructure and enhance the efficient operations, maintenance, and administration of the water and wastewater systems in Bethlehem and Hebron Governorates. 3) Capital investment will finance the implementation and supervision of priority works in the masterplan for the development of piped water supply services throughout the project area. 4) Technical assistance will strengthen the project management unit; support consultant services; and carry out related studies. |
