Methods for assessing salt intrusion and transport in heterogeneous and fractured aquifers
The project focuses on the development of quantitative models and methodologies for assessment of saline intrusion in aquifers. Field and laboratory work will be integrated with theoretical analyses to develop realistic models for saline intrusion in aquifers, taking in particular into consideration, the critical heterogeneity structures of the aquifers and the important (and usually neglected) physico-chemical changes in the host rock.
