EMWIS preliminary study (carried out in 1997) has defined the main
orientations to be chosen for organizing the communication network. Now, the
specifications of communication equipment and procedures are going to be
determined by a detailed study. The aim is to ensure the level of network
quality between the main EMWIS operators (i.e. the T.U. and the NFP).
This one-week seminar aims to present and validate the results of the
study and to organize the training of NFP IT experts on the concepts and
technologies selected. The main objectives are to:
- Present technical options chosen for the communication network;
- Validate the hardware and software recommendations;
- Standardize technical means of communication (Extranet, E-Mail, Videoconference);
- Present and validate the NFP website architecture and design;
- Provide additional technical training according to needs identified during the study;
- Discuss possible implementation difficulties in each country;
- Organize the following phase, i.e. the setting-up of connections and equipment of each NFP.
